True masters of heaven in anger,
Lightning bones
That intertwine in the eternal night ...
Roar,
Between death and fluvial twilight.
I invoke you, oh, tormented souls of the past,
Trills of the death-bald-bird,
I implore you one last cry
In this wax-stars room illuminated in darkness.
Oh, spirits, drink the blood from my veins.
Run through the wrists, holding old writings,
Filling the cranial cups of fallen kings,
I surrender to the sacrifice
To be who, in pen and ink,
With the dew of moonlight gone,
Write their names.

Best thing going in Metal right now! I absolutely love this band. Black metal vocalists all sound similar to me (I know I’m a filthy casual), but for me the instrumentation is what is key for separating the great from the merely okay. This band definitely is in the great category. gaslightgod

What an ambitious album - and to think it’s a debut album too. Sojourner have found an excellent way to create atmospheric black metal with significant folk contributions. Truly epic stuff. Somehow they just keep getting better with each release too. If you like this you’ll love the rest of their discography. 8/10 RJ
If “atmospheric black metal” implies majestic comedowns and dramatic dynamics, this powerhouse instead constitutes anti-atmospheric black metal. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 23, 2021
Even in its prettiest, most celestial moments, the South Dakota trio's sound feels dark and dense and deeply rooted. Bandcamp Album of the Day Aug 24, 2021
